HATS
45 KENYA BICYCLE ADVENTURE
10 days
You depart form Nairobi and spend 10 days cycling and
driving in the Rift Valley and Maasai Mara. The 1st day you cycle 56km
descending from the Ngong Hills, viewing Wildlife and the Maasai way of
life on the way, and camping near a Maasai village. We climb up to Suswa
volcano crater by bicycle on the 2nd day (38km) and rewarded by the spectacular
views over the Rift Valley.
After camping overnight we spend 2 days driving in safe
vehicles through the Maasai Mara Game Reserve and watching abundant wildlife
on the way. Day 5 gives us 65km cycling through plains and we camp by
the Mara River. Next day our 45km ride is through hilly and green Kipsigis
country to our camp. Now we drive to Lake Nakuru and take a game drive
in the National park. After an early game drive next morning we embark
for Lake Bogoria Natural Reserve and ‘game drive’ by bicycle for 50km
and finally spend a day cycling around the lake, famous for its geysers
and flamingoes. Our last day is a drive back to Nairobi by afternoon.

for cycling with a guide by afternoon.

WALKING SAFARI IN COUNT TELEKI’S FOOTSTEPS 9 days
This is a walking safari to Lake Turkana following the
footsteps of Count Teleki who was the first European to see the Lake.
You leave Nairobi and drive to Maralal, for the first campsite. Next day
sees us drive to Tuum, on the west slopes of Mt. Nyiro. The third day
we embark on a six hour walk with our Turkana Guides, with Donkeys for
our luggage. We see spectacular gorges on our way to the Suguta valley
and having camped overnight, we set off before sunrise for a 6 hour walk
thought the spectacular volcanic landscape, with lesser flamingoes awaiting
us on Lake Loigipi.
Teleki’s volcano tackled on day 4 and from the top we
see the Jade Sea (Lake Turkana) in all its beauty and isolation. Having
walked for 5 hours we embark on a 3 hour boat ride and camp. Next day
is spent relaxing in the oasis of Loyangalani and visiting El Molo village.
Now we have 3 days of driving and camping, first to Maralal and then to
the Samburu Game Reserve with game drives, finally back to Nairobi by
afternoon on the last day.

–47 CAMEL SAFARI 7days
You are transported from Nairobi to Maralal where you
spend your first night under canvas, and the next day you drive to the-set-off
point and meet the Morani Guides. Camel is led by a Samburu Mzee, you
cover 16-18 km a day, allowing you to admire views of dramatic un-spoilt
Kenyan country. Camp is moved using a support vehicle each morning and
set up for your mid-day destination for lunch. Nature and Game walks are
arranged each afternoon by your English speaking Morani Guides. On the
last evening you will enjoy local Samburu Dancing at the Maralal hostels,
and then return to Nairobi by early evening on the last day.
