HAT 800 - Western Kenya Ecotourism
Adventures

Day 1: Nairobi - Kisumu.
Leave nairobi early in the morning after breakfast via the Great Rift
Valley with a stop over at the View Point to view the Escarpment. lunch
in Kericho after viewing the Tea Plantation. Proceed to the site of Lwanda
Magere (the Luo legendery worrior who was killed by the enemies at war
and turned into a stone). Continue to Kisumu for dinner and overnight
at a hotel.
Day 2: Kisumu - Ndere - Kakamega.
After an early breakfast, drive past Seme area to Kaloka Beach then take
a boat ride to Ndere Island National Park to see some game and Bird life
before returning to the shore to interact with the locals especially the
traditional fishermen and the Fish Mongers selling their wares. Drive
via Kit-Mikayi (the sacred stone where Mikayi the mother of the Luo tribe
sheltered after a long jorney down the Nile). Drive to Kisumu for lunch
with a small excursion tour to Impala Park and Kisumu Museum before proceeding
to Kakamega Town for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Kakamega Forest - Kisumu.
Early breakfast then enter the forest in search of the varities of Butterflies
and the resident animals e.g Debraza,Crombus, Blue and Red Tailed Monkeys
and the Olive Baboons. Over 30 varities of snakes can be found here e.g
Black Mamba, Viper, Jamson's Mamba e.t.c. among other animals. Great and
very old indigenous trees some are over a 100 yrs are still preserved
in this forest and hence it is sacred for herbal Medicine men. Drive to
Kisumu for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Kisumu - Homabay.
Leave Kisumu after breakfas, drive Southwards thruogh rice plantations
in Kano Plains to Ondino Falls for a brief stop, then continue to Kindu
bay for lunch. Proceed to Lake Simbi Nyaima for Bird viewing and Mytheological
story about this lake before you continue to Kanjira and Kanam Hot springs
,then on to Homa Bay for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Homa Bay - Rusinga - Mbita.
Drive after breakfast to Lake Victoria Safari village to check in and
pick your picnic lunch, then proceed to Rusinga Island to have around
tour of the Island which will include a visit to the historical site where
Dr. Mary Leakey discovered a skull of Proconsul africanus (a primitive
anthropoid ape), which can be seen in Kenya National Musuem in Nairobi
and the Tom Mboya Mausoleum, the civil right champion, trade unionist
and charismatic young Luo politician who was gunned down in Nairobi in
1969, sparking of a crisis that led to over 40 deaths in widespread rioting
and demonstration.Return to Mbita for dinner and overnight at the safari
village.
Day 6: Mbita - Ruma National Park- Awendo.
Depart after breakfast with your picnic lunch, drive through hills and
meandering road to Ruma National Park, the only park which still host
a big number of Roan Antelopes. Enjoy a game drive before proceeding to
Thim Lich Ohinga, Gogo falls then to Awendo for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Awendo - Maasai Mara.
Drive from Awendo via the sugar plantation past Lolgorien to Maasai Mara
National Reserve. Enjoy your enroute game drive to the lodge before settling
for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Maasai Mara full day.
Have a full day in Mara with picnic lunch to enjoy the spectacular game
drive which will take you up to the Mara river which is the gateway for
the migration of the wild beast and also the boundary between Serengeti
and the Mara. The river is the home of the longest African Crocodile and
the Hippo. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 9: Maasai Mara - Nairobi.
After breakfast, enjoy your game drive with optional activities e.g visit
to Maasai village, Nature walk or 06.30am Hot Air Balloon at an extra
cost. Have early lunch and depart to Nairobi arriving in the evening with
a transfer to hotel of your choice.
The price for the above is US$2,775 per person on
minimum of 2 people and US$1,785 per person on minimum of 4 people.
